UPenn Graduate, Fulbright Scholar, Grace Truong arrives in Manila and conducts research with THP
As one of the most competitive exchange programs internationally, the Fulbright Scholarship offers U.S. students the opportunity to gain merit-based grants to conduct research abroad. To become a Fulbright Fellow, one must have the heart, drive, and direction to create and implement an individual research project.
The rigorous application process consists of creating a grant proposal and personal statement, reaching out to potential foreign affiliates and universities, obtaining meaningful letters of recommendation, and going through several rounds of interviews. In the Philippines, eight students were offered the opportunity to conduct independent research on topics ranging from human trafficking to amphibian preservation.
"Through the Fulbright Fellowship, I have been given the chance to continue my lifelong passion for special needs research and advocacy, working with impactful organizations like THP to explore how to create more inclusive communities internationally." Truong said.
